Phillips examines everyday ordinary things such as worry, being bored, kissing, phobias and the idolatry of psychoanalysis. Phillips helps us see the ordinary from a different vantage point. He turns things upside down and sideways so that we can get a better look and in doing so he sparks our imaginations. One doesn’t read Phillips to learn something as much as to have an experience of something.
