Join Dr. Carl Waitz, PsyD, ABPP, for a virtual workshop exploring the fascinating intersections of Lacanian psychoanalysis and Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Both of these fields are experiencing a period of increased public interest in the United States, likely driven by a shared human desire to engage the ineffable.
While many modern manifestations of Christianity and mainstream psychotherapy have become overly preoccupied with “knowing”—an abstract task that can diminish both the human psyche and the sacred—this workshop offers a different approach. Dr. Waitz will take participants on an exploratory journey into how both Lacanian psychoanalysis and Eastern Orthodox Christianity offer pathways to embrace lack and mystery, rather than explaining it away.
Together, we will highlight the resonances between these traditions and reclaim the recognition of desire as central to the human experience.

We are committed to fostering dialogue, not dogma, and to exposing our community to multiple perspectives across both psychoanalytic and Christian theological thought as we continue the ongoing work of integration.
