Time: 9:00–11:00 a.m. PT / 12:00–2:00 p.m. ET

Format: Live via Zoom (Recording included)

Maintaining a vibrant and engaged curiosity to the spiritual and religious dimensions of clinical work speaks to the heart of our task as integrative clinicians.  Of particular interest to Christian clinicians is developing a therapeutic posture that is attuned to the emergent nature of faith within the relational dynamics of clinical work.  Seeking to understand what God is up to in our clinical work is a deeply hermeneutical process involving our faith tradition, ethics, and self-development. Using psychoanalytic and theological principles, this presentation engages participants in a discussion of how to maintain a resilient posture of expectancy and wonder regarding the unique and unpredictable ways God may manifest a Divine presence in therapy and counseling relationships.

Learning Objectives

In this seminar participants will:

1.     Understand and describe the emergent nature of psychotherapy and faith integration in the clinical context.

2.   Identify and discuss the impact of one’s religious faith tradition, ethics, & self-development on the processes of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

3.   Analyze and evaluate their attunement to spiritual & religious material in their clinical work and consider specific practices that foster resilient mindset.
